In this publication, information about Turkish universities with departments or divisions of Russian language and literature is systematized. These institutions offer programs for the education of Russian language and translation professionals at the undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. Approximately 750-800 students enroll annually to begin professional studies in the Russian language. Additionally, some universities admit students from non-professional faculties.
To compile a comprehensive overview of the teaching and learning of the Russian language in Turkish educational institutions, the Association of Russian Language Teachers and Translators (Ankara) and the Representation of Rossotrudnichestvo have completed a project to create the first informational directory titled “The Map of the Russian Language in Turkey.”
The project aims to:
Provide statistics on various platforms for professional communication and experience exchange among Russian language teachers (universities; schools, lyceums, colleges; "Russian schools"; centers for additional education, including those affiliated with associations of Russian compatriots)
Assist in teaching and learning the Russian language (informational and organizational-methodological support; training, retraining, and professional development of Russian language teachers; support in establishing relationships with Russian partners, concluding agreements on academic exchanges and internships; organizing participation of Russian language learners in olympiads and competitions, etc.)

The International Scientific Research and Educational Project plan to conduct an analysis of the current linguistic situation regarding the study and teaching of the Russian language in Turkey to update the existing data. The project aims to investigate the status of the Russian language in Turkey across various sectors, from the education system (analyzing educational institutions) to the economy. Concurrently, there are plans to create an interactive resource that, in real-time, reflects the actual status of the Russian language in Turkey.
